Scriblink 2.0

First off, we'd like to thank everyone from all over the world who has written to us these past couple of months about improving Scriblink. Although we couldn’t implement all of your suggestions, we did listen to every one of them and we are proud to present to you a redesign of the Scriblink experience.

Here is a list of what's new:

1. A brand new toolbar with some enhancements.
We’ve made it a lot easier and intuitive to make full use of Scriblink. We ditched the drop downs and put everything you’ll need in the toolbar. You may notice a new button in the far right.

This arrow is for people with large monitors who want to make use of them with a bigger board. A word of caution: when you enlarge the board, it makes it bigger for everyone, so be mindful of the screen size of your collaborators. **note: this feature is scheduled to go live on Friday, June 27.

2. We dropped ads like a bad habit.
You may have noticed there aren't anymore ads. There's a simple explanation for this: we hate them. We’re totally committed to making your Scriblink experience seamless and simple, and the ads just kept getting in the way.

From time to time, people ask us if we ever plan to charge for Scriblink. The answer is no. Never.

For those of you wondering how the hell we make any money, we recently launched an API for Scriblink that allows people to implement customized versions of our whiteboard onto their own sites (see Business Solutions, also going live on June 27). These people keep the good times rolling for everyone else.

3. Voiping without the baggage
.
Perhaps our biggest enhancement to Scribink 2.0 is the addition of Voip conferencing, a feature that came at the behest of a loyal user named Chandra (who’s doing some innovative things of his own that we’ll share as soon as it’s ready).

If you (and your collaborator(s)) have a computer microphone, Scriblink will automatically drop you into your own private conference call. Best thing about it: it works straight from the browser and doesn't require software. It's free, it's simple, and you can talk to anyone anywhere in the world for as long as you like.

This technology is made possible by an innovative new company from England called PhoneFromHere, who is a pioneer in this space. We are eternally grateful to have them on board as a strategic partner and encourage everyone to check out their site and learn more about the solutions they offer.

Hey there - I wasn't sure how to let you guys know, but a few of us who have been using your site keep getting java errors when we try to upload pictures!

Is this a known problem? And will there be a fix?

love your site - and really keep up the good work!! I just hope you can fix it :)

Hi,

Just to let everyone know, we fixed image uploading (it had to do with the different paths - scriblink.com and www.scriblink.com). Also, we have implemented the board resizing (arrow in the top right) so check it out and let us know what you think!

I found scriblink effective and easy to use.
The only thing I found confusing is the "Get URL" button.

In many whiteobard tools you want to discuss a web page or website.
So Get URL made me think of a very needed feature that would capture the URL and put it on the whiteboard (maybe at a selectable % of transparency) so that it could then be commented and drawn on.

Seems like that would really expand the reach of the tool to webdesigners.

Thanks for a great tool. Usually use GTalk or Gizmo, skype with it but I"ll try your VOIP piece next.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the feedback. We are actually working on a feature that will allow users to upload URL's into the background of a board. It should be done in a few days so stay tuned!
